Instant Homemade Mawa/ Khoya

This is an instant recipe to make Mawa/ khoya at home using only 3 simple ingredients.

It tastes much better than store-bought mawa. Definitely give it a try

You will need:

2 cups Ricotta cheese

2 tbsp ghee

2 cups of milk powder

Method:

To a heavy bottom, pan add ricotta cheese and unsalted butter or ghee. Cook this mixture on a low to medium flame, while stirring continuously

Stirring the ricotta cheese prevents the ricotta cheese from sticking to the bottom of the pan.

Once heated ricotta cheese will be all watery and soupy. The trick to a perfect mawa is to keep stirring.

As the liquid evaporates ricotta cheese will shrink in quantity and within 10 minutes on a low flame – the ricotta cheese will start to thicken, now add the milk powder and mix well to combine.

Cook the mixture for another 5-10 minutes on a low flame, stirring continuously to form a dough-like consistency.

Remove the thickened mixture onto a bowl and let it cool.

In many recipes, you can use the mawa right away.

To store you can knead the milk solids into a dough and store it in an airtight container for later use
